Numenera Jack Commission by shellpresto
Numenera Jack Commission
A Post-It note commission for Benjamin Feehan of his RPG character Cames Coss, an Impulsive Jack.

Had fun doing it, too.
After Dark - Second edition by shellpresto
After Dark - Second edition
So I redid the cover for After Dark as well - all my work again, this time - from pencils to digital paints to pagination. (Fonts by , by the way.)

The first cover was solidly good, but we thought it needed a bit more action and some villains. So Torrent is ready to lay a smackdown on someone, and Cascade and Miasma are being enticing and imposing, respectively.

Bears, Brains, Battlestar Galactica by shellpresto
Bears, Brains, Battlestar Galactica
Drawing I did for last year's Fantom Fest convention in Scranton, PA. The Office was the Scrantoniest thing I could think of, and I wanted to give it a horror theme, and so zombie Dwight Schrute was born.

Prismacolor pencils. Art by Shell Presto.
Copper Knights and Granite Men - Third Edition by shellpresto
Copper Knights and Granite Men - Third Edition
For our third edition of Copper Knights and Granite Men, we decided to use a different cover, and I'm proud to say it's my first ever full digital painting.  From the first brushstroke to the final letter, this cover was created by me.

(Matty Lasuire did an awesome job painting our first cover, but using a cover someone else did, no matter how awesome, felt a little like paying someone to go to Disneyland for you because you didn't have the time to do it yourself.)

I had struggled for a long time with digital painting, years in fact. I could color linework fine, but to get rid of the lines was often courting disaster. I'm pleased with how this turned out.

And the book? To tell you a bit about it:

"A brazen band of robbers raids the New York Metropolitan Museum. Their target? The Prince's Emblazoned, an elaborate suit of armor rumored to be of surpassing occult significance. To ensure their escape, the thieves release an unprecedented weapon: a mist that turns men to stone.

The Challenger Foundation, a team of dysfunctional and unorthodox superheroes, is called in to help. Led by the 900-year-old alchemist called the Promethean, the team must unravel the mystery of the fossilization solution and confront the architect of the plot, a deadly supernatural enemy thought dead for more than a century."

Cap on a Post-It by shellpresto
Cap on a Post-It
Haven't done a Post-It in a while. So here's Captain America!

I started out wanting to draw a straight Chris Evans Cap -- and I do enjoy him as Cap -- but artistically it felt wrong drawing Cap so thin. So I bulked him up and maybe added a few years.

(My favorite Cap artist -- much like my favorite X-Men and Fantastic Four artist -- is John Byrne. That may be why I'm so deadset on the wider jaw.)

Also, just so folks know, I illustrate and co-write original superhero novels. If that sounds cool, you can check out my original work at .
I've been updating a little more regularly, but realized I didn't yet state why.

Mike and I published four illustrated books, all sort sci fi and/or fantasy, three with superheroes. It's been a little crazy. We've been attending cons, too. As sellers. It was super-exciting, and now con season is over, so I can play catch-up on everything.

For those curious, you can read more about our stories (along with free chapters and related free short stories) here:

They're all available on…

And know that if you check 'em out, you'd be making my day!
