Signalman - Quiet Rage by shellpresto
Signalman - Quiet Rage
Painted Signalman is done. It's not my first digital painting ever, but it's the first one that I think is actually good. I've been studying digital painting pretty intensely this past month.

So Signalman defends humanity against the Martians in 1898. You can read his origin story - as well as tales of other heroes and victims of the war - in Population of Loss.

Get it here:…

Signalman created by Michael A. DiBaggio, designed and drawn by Shell Presto.

Scald and Cascade by shellpresto
Scald and Cascade
Two super-powered characters from our novel, After Dark, the first book in the East End Irregulars series. You can learn more about the book here:…

Penciled traditionally, with grey added on PC.

Daphne of East End Irregulars on a Post-It by shellpresto
Daphne of East End Irregulars on a Post-It
Daphne of the East End Irregulars (done for our mailing list page).

I'm pretty proud of how this one came out. Ballpoint, gel pen, and marker on a Post-It. The lighting was not tweaked on the computer - it looks that well-lit on the original.

Daphne McKeller is the "tech-savvy normal" the East End Irregulars tap for everything from calling in backup to staging viable excuses as to why they aren't at home when they should be.

Daphne won't appear for a few books, but if you want to be caught up by the time you meet her, you can check out a preview of the first East End Irregulars book here:…
Chamber on a Post-It by shellpresto
Chamber on a Post-It
Chamber from X-Men and Generation X again. Still one of my favorite comic book characters to this day.

Mostly done in ballpoint pen, but I added the white, red background, and tweaked the colors on the computer for this one to make it more vibrant. After all, it just isn't Chamber if he doesn't look like he's practically on fire.

If you like my art and teen superhero stories, please consider taking a look at my original work (an illustrated novel):…
Atomic Ranger on a Post-It by shellpresto
Atomic Ranger on a Post-It
Atomic Ranger, a character from our illustrated novella, in ballpen on a Post-It note.

If you think he looks interesting, you can learn about the book and read a preview here:…
I've been updating a little more regularly, but realized I didn't yet state why.

Mike and I published four illustrated books, all sort sci fi and/or fantasy, three with superheroes. It's been a little crazy. We've been attending cons, too. As sellers. It was super-exciting, and now con season is over, so I can play catch-up on everything.

For those curious, you can read more about our stories (along with free chapters and related free short stories) here:

They're all available on…

And know that if you check 'em out, you'd be making my day!

Thank you for favoriting a piece from my Kickstarter!

It’s an 300+ page art book about a shapeshifter convict and a bankrupt princess unraveling the link between magic and science. I’ve been working on it for five years and now the project is ending in a few days!  I’m really grateful for everyone’s contributions and support like your faves (especially people who've been following since the start of the project!)! So thank you! :DONE WEEK LEFT TO GET THE GENOMANCER ART BOOK! by fictograph
